Meg Winnecour Art

About Me.
Artist & Educator.
Meg Winnecour (she/her/hers) is an Asheville, NC-based artist who paints stylized, colorist botanical still lifes and nature portraits as a way to harness energy and share it. Her favorite media are vibrantly colored acrylics, gouache, watercolor, and cyanotype. Meg is happiest working close to nature: in it, with it, amongst it. Shifting natural light and weather-charged atmosphere are some of her favorite subjects, and they find their way into her work by way of expressive color and loose, energetic brush strokes.
Meg has also been an art teacher since 1997, helping people of all ages tap into their creativity and find joy through the process of making art. Core tenets of Meg’s teaching are that enjoyment of process leads directly to interesting, beautiful products, and that art is energy and love, crystallized. Art takes all the varied strands of life and weaves them into a beautifully textured cloth, a warm shelter, under which we can rest and make meaning.
Meg is an intermittent hermit who periodically retreats into nature to get quiet and let her senses open to the wonders of the natural world. If ever you can’t find her, she’s in the woods or near some water, becoming a wind-worn stone.
